What is Thermoforming?

Thermoforming is the generic term describing the processes used to produce components from a flat sheet of plastic under temperature and pressure. A plastic sheet is heated to a pliable forming temperature, formed to a specific shape in a mold, trimmed and finished to create a usable product. The trimmed material can be reground and recycled.

Why Use Thermoforming?

Thermoforming has many advantages over other processes. It is an efficient and very cost-effective process for the production of many plastic parts depending on size, shape, and quantity.

Unlike other processes, thermoforming has a much shorter lead time, so initial project costs can be considerably lower. The process also allows greater design freedom, where small details can be added. Pre-coloured plastic is available allowing choice of pattern, texture, and finish.
